Essence Application & Uniqueness
• Gita is a primeval doctrine of classical universal Truth.
By itself, Gita is the essence of the various vedic literature
e.g.Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads and other scriptures, pronounced
by the Self-Effulgent Lord of Light, Knowledge, Truth (Krishna)
and passed on to the worldly society, for its benefit, through
Arjuna, a typical human being, who is ignorant of the Absolute
Truth, his own roots (from where he came), himself (who he is),
about his life (what is his mission or supreme goal and how to
realize it) and also how he should live, act, handle and manage
worldly problems.
• Professor Prema Pandurang said, "Gita is sakshat
(without doubt) Prabhu ki vani, (Song of the Lord), such ki kahani
(story of Truth), aur Bharat ki nishani (symbol and heritage of
India).
• It is the greatest encounter between Atma, when ignorant
and Paramatma, the source of Knowledge. Such an encounter has
never been imagined or heard before anywhere, anytime. And it
can never be forgotten.
• This embodied Atma's name is Arjuna who represents as
a typical human being with ego and ignorance and is despondent
and in grief, not knowing what to do, when action demanded to
go on war with his own near and dear relations, cousins, brother,
teacher, and grandfather. This was his life's serious problem
and did not quite know, how to handle it, how to manage it.
• Just as he did not know what to do, he also did not know
that one of his relations, who was his dear friend and also his
companion, coachman and who brought him in the middle of the war
field, to assess the opposite army, was none other than the Divine
Lord Krishna Himself. However as a friend, he conveyed his ego-problem
and grief, which pervaded his mind, to Krishna. (Chapter 1)
• Arjuna likes to be clear on this as to how far action
takes one to the portals of the truth. Lord Krishna starts his
discourse by telling Arjuna that both Sanyas & Karma Yoga
are parts of the package to awaken to the truth within, but one
should be very clear that for a person who is yet to be fully
ready, resorting to Karma Yoga is far better. The essence of sanyas
is to attain a state wherein one neither has any aversion for
things outside nor does he arrogate too great an importance to
extraneous things. This ability alone is aimed to be developed
and polished by Karma Yoga. So both these sadhanas aim at one
goal alone.
• For application in real life, one should work to act
with a different motivation, and not by egocentric likes &
dislikes. One should realize that attachments to the so-called
extraneous joys & pleasures, deny the vistas of discoveries
within. The beginning & end of seeking any pleasures reveals
the existence of a limited person, and thus inspite of pleasures
our limitations remain as they are, and so does the seeking. So
one should rather work with a diiferent motivation, and go out
in the world not with a sense of seeking but to polish the ability
to act dynamically lovingly so as to open the vistas of awakening
within.
• Gita gives the essence of the superior secret knowledge
or the highest mystery of the unknown. Only one, who starts with
the belief and faith in His existance as Absolute, Eternal, Immortal,
Infinite, Immanent, all Prevailing, all Prevading, Omniscient,
Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Divine, Pure, Perfect, Real, Self-Effulgent,
Truth and Knowledge and has love and devotion for Him, concentrates
his mind on Him, worships Him, pays obeisance to Him, he becomes
His devotee, he will be on His Highway to Him, he will know the
Unknown, he will reach and realise Him and be one with Him. So,
he is fulfilled. As one seer said, "Have devotion and Knowledge
will follow."
• Gita is pronunced by 'Satyam-Gyanam-Anantam' (Para Brahama)
the self-effulgent Lord Krishna, the Divine Lord of the Knowledge,
Light, Truth and passed on to the worldly society, for its benefit,
through His dear and great devotee Arjuna. Arjuna, represents
a typical human being of any age and at any place in the world,
who is ignorant of his own self (who he is?), his roots, his life,
his goal of life mission, his duty and lacks discrimination to
deal with the problems, challenges, crisis and management of life.
Such a man is overwhelmed by fears, desires, attachments, false
ego and emotions and does'nt quite know whether to act or not.
He remains confused and despodent to the extent that he refuses
to take action where he should, or acts where he should not. To
be or not to be.
• The uniqueness of Gita is to reveal an Art of Action
because of which we learn to live dynamically & efficiently,
yet remain unaffected with the vicissitudes of life.
• Daily study of only few verses of Gita will recharge
mental batteries and add meaning to a dull routine life of the
modern society. (Swami Harihar)
• 'ART OF LIVING', 'ART OF KARMA' AND,' ART OF RENUNCIATION'
ARE THE BASICS OF GITA. SPECIFICALLY, IT TELLS YOU TO HAVE FAITH,
DEVOTION, ACT AND FIX YOUR MIND IN PROPER PLACE i.e. SELF-KNOWLEDGE.
THE SUPREME GOAL, ie KRISHNA. IF IT IS BEYOND YOU, AND CANNOT
DO THIS, JUST BE HIS DEVOTEE, TAKE KRISHNA'S SHARAN (REFUGE).
THIS IS THE ESSENTIAL, ETERNAL, ESSENCE AND MYSTERIOUS MESSAGE
& MANTRA OF GYANESHWARI GITA. GITA IS A GUIDE IN LIFE, AS
GANDHI SAID.
