Philosophy of Hatha Yoga

‘Ha’ means Sun; ‘Tha’ means Moon. Balancing of the solar and lunar energy channels cannot be achieved through jerky, fast movements. Yoga is often presented as a set of physical exercises. But in the ancient traditions and texts of yoga in its sources in the perennial Master to disciple initiatory tradition, it is a movement and positioning of the energy field, around which the configuration of the body is built and moves.

The awareness of every segment of a movement, of the breath flow along with it, the mind’s state generated thereby – these together constitute the practice of hatha. Hatha yoga opens the gateways to the subtle body.
